Phase transition dynamics is of central importance in nonlinear sciences. In this talk, I shall address two types of transitions in fluid dynamics -- the transition in the physical spaces and the dynamic transition in the phase space. The study is based on the geometric theory of incompressible flows and the dynamic transition theory for nonlinear dynamical systems. Both theories are developed recently by Ma and myself, and will be illustrated in this talk with simple examples.
