Abstract: I will first review the local theory of surfaces in R^3, and then use the Gauss-Codazzi equation for surfaces in R^3 with constant Gaussian curvature -1 and the Gauss-Codazzi equation for isothermic surfaces in R^3 to introduce many remarkable properties of soliton equations.

2.课程名称:Multilinear expansions and multilinear operators
Abstract: Just as general functions can often be expanded in power series, nonlinear operators on Banach spaces can often be expanded as infinite series of multilinear operators. Applications of such expansions rely on inequalities for these multilinear operators, and such inequalities are of interest in their own right. These lectures are devoted to several specific instances of this general theme.
Topics will include most or all of:
(1) Solution of the initial value problem for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation.
(2) Construction of exotic weak solutions demonstrating nonuniqueness in initial value problems for various nonlinear partial differential equations.
(3) One-dimensional scattering theory for Schrodinger operators with slowly decaying potentials.
(4) Decay estimates for multilinear oscillatory integrals.
(5) Lebesgue space inequalities for a basic class of (nonoscillatory) multilinear operators.

3.课程名称:Introduction to Heegaard Floer Homology
Abstract: These lectures are an introduction to Ozsvath and Szabo's theory of Heegaard Floer homology. In the first week, we will describe the definition and basic properties of Heegaard Floer homology and the Ozsvath-Szabo four-manifold invariants, as well as some ways to calculate them. The second week will discuss applications of theory to the study of knots (knot Floer homology), contact structures (the Ozsvath-Szabo contact invariant), and branched double covers (Khovanov homology.)

4.课程名称:The Growth of Harmonic Functions
Abstract: In this course, we shall discuss the relation between the growth of harmonic functions and the growth of nodal sets of those functions. The relation is of two aspects. On one hand, we discuss how the growth of harmonic functions determines the growth of nodal sets. On the other hand, we discuss how the growth of nodal sets determines the growth of harmonic functions.
The growth of harmonic functions is measured by their frequency. For any harmonic function $u$ in unit ball $B_1$, the frequency is defined as $$N=\frac{\int_{B_1}|\nabla u|^2}{\int_{\partial B_1}u^2}.$$ If u is a homogenous harmonic polynomial, its frequency is exactly its degree. In general, the frequency controls the growth of the harmonic functions. Here an important topic is a monotonicity formula for harmonic functions.
An important aspect of the discussion is to approximate harmonic functions by harmonic polynomials. In fact, harmonic functions with frequency $N$ behave like harmonic polynomials of degree $[N]$, both analytically and geometrically. It is not surprising that detailed information of nodal sets of harmonic polynomials is needed.
We shall demonstrate how to use methods from several different fields to achieve our goal. Methods are mainly from partial differential equations, geometric measure theory, several complex variables and algebraic geometry. The course is self contained. No knowledge of geometric measure theory and algebraic geometry is required.

7、 北京站至北大的乘车线路:

B:出了北京站口向左过广场并穿过马路,到103路电车站,上车后到终点站动物园,转乘332路到北大南门下,或在此转乘105路106路如A中站点下。
C:如B中一样到103路电车站,等808路,直接乘到北大南门下即可。票价8元。
8、 北京西客站到北大的乘车路线:出西客站后,乘特6路或320路直接到中关园站下就可以了。
